Complementing Design with Fall Seasonal Decor

Fall decor by JSB DesignsMost of you know Christmas is my favorite time of year, but did you know that I’m also a big fan of fall?

Sure, this year fall felt like it only lasted a few days. The weather went from hot to freezing and then back again with only a few perfect cool days in between. Sigh.

Still, I just love the cooler temps, beautiful colors and the feeling of togetherness and family that I associate with autumn.

So I’m always thrilled when my clients want me to give their home a fall face lift.

Of course I immediately hit up my favorite spots like Kirklands, Hobby Lobby and Home Goods. These stores are where I typically start my hunt. They are staples for home decor and can usually provide exactly what I have in mind.

Since I just recently completed the interior decor of this home, it was particularly fun to decorate for their first holiday post-design.

I started in the foyer. I added some fall touches on and around the bench. I just love the warmth these colors bring to the entryway!

I always want to make the table a focal point in the home and in this home there’s two. In the dining room, I chose a stunning centerpiece with pumpkins and leaves and added napkins in mustard – THE hot color this season!

In the kitchen I switched the wall decor to fall and added the buffalo plaid runner with the black pumpkins. Buffalo plaid is on trend right now, particularly for fall and even Christmas!

These built-in shelves and mantle in the living room were the perfect spots to tuck in pumpkins, scarecrows, jack-o-lanterns and other seasonal decor that just can’t stand alone.

The front porch is a must decorate so I added matching wreaths to the door and some cute pumpkins and “patch” sign out front.

I had so much fun decorating this home for fall. It seems so cozy and inviting as this family welcomes in the holiday season.
