Bedroom Makeover Focuses on Tranquility

bedroom makeover by JSB DesignsTranquil. Serene. Comfortable. Classic.

These are the words that best describe my most recent bedroom makeover project. Cool grays and crisp whites combine with warm wooden accents to create a space that is modern yet inviting.

There’s nothing I love more than creating a place for my clients to relax and unwind and this room totally fits the bill!

This bedroom makeover project was not a complete overhaul, many lovely elements were already present in the room when I was called in. I acted as more of a coordinator to enhance and pull together pieces the client had while adding the finishing touches.

This room is the perfect example of the versatility of interior design. Sometimes the homeowner just needs a professional to come in, lay things out, offer suggestions and pretty much tie everything together. No project is too big or too small!

I worked with the client before, you may remember from her Tears For Fears themed home office highlighted in this blog. These rooms are fairly different in the fact that she opted for big and bold in the office (remember that sunflower mural?) but simple and clean in the bedroom makeover.

She opted for muted color palettes to create a relaxing environment. Just take a look at this dreamy bed. There’s nothing but sweet dreams happening here!

The bed and dresser are from Restoration Hardware. I adore the brads on the headboard and footboard. They add a touch of masculinity and a glint of metal which pairs perfectly with the gold in the bedside lamps. Exquisite!

This bedding is from Eastern Accents and matches the floral panel curtains. The curtains were made and installed by Eye on Design and give the room so much character while the neutral bedding keeps everything feeling low key and relaxed.

One of my favorite touches in the room is the 3D wall art flowers above the headboard. These are from Cyan, an accessory line I carry.

The flowers really tie in the floral theme and add a feminine touch without being too girly. And yes, each one is hung individually so that was a fun day!

What do you think of the rug? Is there anything better than a neutral rug with a geometric design? Okay, fine, you got me, I also love big bold rugs but when I look at this one I can’t help but think it is everything a rug is meant to be! Check out the collection from jauntyinc.com

Luckily, this amazing barn door was already in the room. It goes perfectly with the decor we chose and is a real space saver! Besides, it looks great with the armchair from Kirkland’s!

A Pop of Color

Blue accent in bedroom by JSB DesignsRounding out the room you will notice a pop of color in the accent pieces on the dresser. I think it’s important to add a bit of color to add some visual interest.

Since this room was meant to be tranquil and calming, these shades of blue and green were perfect to add to the soothing atmosphere.

Color, even in small amounts, can elicit powerful responses from our subconscious so it’s important to choose wisely! (Great blog on color!)

I love that we were able to design two distinctly unique spaces in this client’s home which not only met her needs but highlighted her personal style as well.

This is what interior design is all about, finding styles that mesh with a client’s personality and converting that into a beautiful living space.
